Choosing a Male or Female Puppy

Choosing the sex of your puppy is a personal preference.  Some people like a male dog and others prefer a female dog!  If you spay a female and neuter a male, the two are really alike, especially Poodles.

Most veterinarians recommend neutering a male at 5-6 months of age because there isn't as many stresses by this age and puppy has completed immunizations and used to new owners by this time.  Also this is before a male’s manly hormonal boost, which will or should eliminate any marking of territory.  Marking is a learned habit and if you can cut off the hormones before he learns what marking is, males make wonderful pets.

Puppies Socialization

Our puppies are born in my insulated kennel and handled from day one.  The socialization process is begun through daily interactions until they leave for their new homes.  They are touched, played with and loved daily.  Actual grooming begins about 4 weeks old with puppies’ first bath and hair drying with toenails getting clipped.  Puppies’ tails are docked and dewclaws removed.  This is done by our veterinarian.
